Feedback from Baycourt performances 2011

"Dear Carla, Rachel and the Rhythms Dance team,

I would just like to both commend you on and thank you for a fantastic show on Saturday.  My daughter Tiana has trialled various Rhythm kids dance classes over the years and while I have always been impressed with the organisation, the quality of the dance programme and resources and the fantastic way in which the dance teachers interact with the children, I was absolutely amazed last weekend by your creative vision, your ability to strategise and your business expertise!

I cringed slightly when I read the note that discouraged parents from complaining about the costumes - I hope that you did not have to deal with too much of that nonsense and that you were overwhelmed by positive and supportive feedback from parents like myself who were both relieved and delighted that you had taken care of the costuming task for us.  They were fabulous costumes by the way - well done!  I have a background in school teaching and I know that it is easy to dwell on the negative comments that generally come from a very small (but sometimes loud) group.  I would like to think that you can keep the numbers in perspective – 12 members from Tiana’s family attended the shows on Saturday with ages ranging from 70 years to 3 and I can assure you that it was thoroughly enjoyed by all and that you and your team were the focus a lot of complimentary discussion on Sunday.  I’m sure that this was the case for many families but most people are too busy to write a letter and give you that feedback.

Thank you again for providing such an entertaining and enjoyable spectacle but most importantly we are especially grateful that you gave Tiana an opportunity to showcase her learning, to develop her confidence and to be part of a production that was large scale and absolutely professional!  You have given her and us some very special memories and we sincerely hope that you have the time, energy and will to do it all over again next year.

Take care and enjoy the Christmas break"

“So im sure you have had a million emails about how fab the show was and  im going to add to that.

A couple of highlights for me (aside from the kids) was the intructors/teachers show casing the talants they have, although as a parent you already know they will be trained and qualified etc... it was amazing to see just how good everyone is!

I know that probly sounds a little durh ... but it is reassuring to see and that they are not just anybody who thinks they can dance but infact somebody who really can dance and are exceptional as well.

My parents went along as grandparents do and my mum  (who is a dressmaker) was dazzled by the fabulous costumes, she couldnt imagine the amount of work that went into them and was just amazed and so pleased that her grandchild was part of it, also my dad is very sick and usually doesnt stay awake for long (due to illness and fatigue).. he loved every minute and didnt fall asleep once!!!!! (He can sleep through anything) he is still talking about how great it was this morning!

The last thing I have to tell you was something I over heard as we were leaving lastnight,

Another parent was commenting on the show and how they had been to see a production by D.E.C and how they had nothing on you guys and level of talent was way better she also said and I quote (lol)  "D.E.C could never even come close to topping this"!!!!!!

Once again guys well done”

“On behalf of my wife Lynley and I, and my 4 boys, we are so thrilled at the performances at Baycourt. The stage, the lighting, the dances and the many kids who performed the whole day were outstanding. I just didn't realise how many kids wanted to be dancers.

Just want to thank you ladies for the immeasurable effort you put into those kids. My so enjoyed it.  I have to accept the fact that he may want to be a dancer instead of my dream All Black (lol).

Lisa, you were sensational.  Thank you for your patience, your guidance for these kids, your time, your aroha, you believing in them and most importantly, expressing your passion into my son and others kids too... if you can't say it in words, then express it in dance.

Finally, may you all be sincerely blessed for the tireless work you have done. “

'I just wanted to say a huge thankyou for all your hard work with "show off". Tilly loved the whole experience and it was fantastic to watch.

Your organisation was brilliant and I was very impressed, you seemed to have thought of everything in advance and as a parent I felt very in the loop of what was going on and that Tilly would be safe and well looked after in the getting ready phase of the day!

Brilliant brilliant brilliant!!'

'Hi Carla, Katie, Rachel, Tracey, Teejay and the awesome RDC team, wow what an awesome show on Saturday guys! We had such a great time watching it, loved how the costumes and the dance styles were so varied, you all did an amazing job putting it all together.  Stella loved every minute of it and woke up this morning wanting to know when she was going back to Baycourt!!

Looking forward to the next one!'

'As a helper on the day it was an absolute privilege to be involved in what was a wonderful production and to you all a huge thank you for your time, effort and organisation. It is a huge task bringing everything together and you all did a fantastic job.

To Tracey a big thank you for the last two terms. Kirsty has thoroughly enjoyed her dancing and has gained so much confidence. We just love the concept of 'no exams' and knowing how much other children's activities cost, believe that your fees are more than reasonable.'

'My daughter Sophie attends Matua Primary and has had Tracey as her teacher this year, she was in your shows at Baycourt performing Fun In The Sun. I helped behind the scenes for the 2pm show and was there to watch the 6pm show.  I would like to say that I think that the whole day was a great success and I am very pleased to have assisted with it and to have seen my daughter perform in the evening.

I would like to congratulate you and your team for the organisation of the performance, I can imagine it was quite stressful at times, and at times as a parent it felt like that too, but for all the waiting and practises it all came together on the day.

Finally I would like to thank you for giving my daughter the opportunity to have these lessons, it has given her so much more confidence and has shown me that she has a natural talent for dance and to encourage her to continue with it, she loves dancing and to see her on stage was just perfect!!!'

'Thank you so much for organising this amazing show - a huge effort from all of you and with so many little kids to get organised!
Maia thoroughly loved the whole 'Baycourt' experience and without your effort she never would have got to experience something like this at the age of 3.  She loves her dancing and watching her perform was just amazing.
Once again thank you for all your hard work - you are a team of stars!'

Feedback from other classes - Preschool, Public, Primary, Zumba

‘The dance classes were an awesome opportunity for the children. For my daughter it has brought her out of her shell and she has made some great friends. The physical side of it has improved her asthma and she has enjoyed it immensely.  Tracey could not be faulted. She maintained great control of the class and they were always engaged. She was fair and critical when needed to be.  Thank you for providing such a rewarding opportunity for the children and also having it at school was more feasible for working parents.  My preschooler also does Rhythm Kids through Kidz Zone Millers Road so Thursday nights is normally a performance night in our house!  But you and your facilitators do such a great job I just wanted to say thank you.'
Erin Te Kani – Mother of Jordyn, 6, Otumoetai Primary

‘Our children love the dance classes that Rhythm Kids provides. It’s interesting – they use lots of wonderful props and the children are encouraged but not pushed. We love having the classes on site here at Acorn.’
Caryn, Acorn Quality Childcare

‘I have finally found exercise that I love !!!  Zumba has changed my life – I am never going to the gym or for a run again!  The teachers are energetic, charismatic & humourous.  In the 3 weeks I’ve been coming I’ve lost 2kg, met many like-minded people & am feeling so alive!’
Laura Smith

'I felt I needed to share with you a comment that was passed to me at lunch time – I bumped into a lady I have known for 20 years she said my gosh what have you been doing you are so toned.  Well of cause I told her all about my fabulous Zumba classes and instructors.

The toning classes are amazing and yes really working.  Teejay your enthusiasm for us to get it right is fantastic.

I read recently about you giving a Scholarship to young kids who may not get an opportunity to learn dance, you guys are amazing'.
Carolyn

'I really would like to express to you how much Zumba has affected me. We moved to Tauranga three years ago and don’t really know that many people here so it has been a fantastic place to get to know some really lovely people.

I travel a lot for work and have become very insular in my life in Tauranga. I am quite a shy person outside of what I know, so picking up the courage to do something completely different has been great for me.

This may sound completely stupid but I have always been the type of person at a party to sit the night out as I have had a major phobia about dancing in front of people due to a lack of rhythm. To the point when I was pulled up onto the floor my legs would feel like lead and my heart rate would increase which made me look even more inept. It really is like a bit of a panic attack.

I have made up every excuse not to dance. So starting something like Zumba has been momentum for me.

Your classes have given me the confidence to get up at my wedding and dance without feeling like running of the dance floor and hiding. I know you hear a lot of stories on how your classes have had a huge effect on so many people’s lives, so I thought I would let you know just how much you’re hard work is so much appreciated by me.

The other up side to coming to your classes is the fact that I have lost weight and increased my fitness which has also been a huge motivator.

So thanks again for your ongoing enthusiasm and motivation. You guys rock!!!!'

‘I just wanted to say how fantastic your Zumba classes are. I was dragged along by my work colleague and since starting 7 weeks ago I have lost 6 kg’s (dieting as well) and have dropped 1 ½ sizes in jeans, my waist is now curving rather than looking like a mushroom and I had to buy a smaller pair of gym tights as the ones I bought kept coming down in class every time I did a shimmy! My legs have more shape and my husband has noticed my new figure and loves it when I come home and show him the moves we have learnt in class ( “move it, move it” is his favourite).  And lastly I went to a party a couple of weeks ago and danced for 6hrs.  I had to be dragged off the dance floor at 3.30am – my energy levels have soared!  Thank you Carla and Teejay – you guys are great.’

‘Vanessa adores Rachel (dance teacher). She maintains a style that includes and relates to the children at the age that they are, but somehow manages to keep it professional at the same time.  I have employed and trained many staff and Rachel definitely has a natural gift along with some excellent developing leadership skills. Well done Rachel.’
Gin Williams – Mother of Vanessa, 7, Omokoroa No1 School

‘The teachers are really approachable and flexible. The props are fantastic and lots of different skills are taught. It’s fun and quality for money, I’d highly recommend Rhythm Kids to any childcare centre.’
Karen, Greenpark Preschool

‘Our girls struggled with confidence a little. This class has done great things to fix this. Both girls were very premature at birth. The various dance moves and actions help with their coordination and motor skills. Carla is so good with the kids’.
Mr Cording – father of Ruby & Hannah, 6

‘Rachel has done a wonderful job and the girls just loooooove her. The kids loved the classes and it has been neat to see some of them come out of their shells and become more confident.  It is good physically and for coordination but the enjoyment the kids get from the class is just great.’
Greta Smith – mother of Frances, 6, Omokoroa No1 School

‘Rhythm Kids offer lots of activities and a good variety. The children are all praised for their efforts – it’s a happy class. The teacher has a lovely manner with the children, she is very positive’.
Bernie Bornholdt – Nana of Madeleine, 5

‘I loved the music and fun dancing while still doing some of the proper ballet moves. Carla is amazing – my daughter can be shy but she easily manages to get her to join in’.
Georgina Windley – mother of Charli Ann, 4

‘My son had always wanted to dance. I had him enrolled in ballet and he didn’t enjoy the format or nature of the teacher – nor did I. Rhythm Kids is so much fun and really varied. Jayden is always practising the moves he’s learnt at home and counts down the days until the next class. I would highly recommend Rhythm Kids to anyone.'
Rhonda – mother of Jayden, 7

‘The Preschool classes are great for the children as they use a lot of energy. It also supports their development in a range of areas.’
