Dear parents,

Thanks to all who have registered and paid for their child's dance which start next week (Mon 13 Feb).

For those who have yet to pay, please note our change of bank account to 010322-0196712-00.  If you paid the term fees into our old account, don't worry as that account will remain open for a short time, but please change the account in your internet banking set-up for next time.

At this stage some classes have low enrolment numbers and may not turn out to be viable.  However there may be people who may not know they need to pre-enrol and may just turn up on the day. 
If you don't hear from us, your child's class will be going ahead.
For these classes we will see how the numbers are going after the first week and contact anyone who is going to be affected by a cancelled or merged class to discuss alternatives.

BOYS ONLY CLASSES ON SATURDAYS

These will be taught by Teejay & Carla.  Teejay is our head Zumba instructor, an awesome dancer, a motivating, fun teacher and excellent choreography.  Carla will be assisting the boys to learn acrobatic tricks and partner work.  At present this class is one of the one with low numbers.  Don't miss this opportunity to have your son taught by some of the best teachers in town and be part of what will no doubt be some show stopping performances at our end of year shows.
This term the class will start at 11.15am but for the following terms we may look at a later start to take into account Saturday morning winter sports.

If you have a dvd from the shows last year which still need to be collected, please call the office and we will arrange to get the dance teacher to take it to your child's class.

Our classes start back the week beginning Monday 13 February.  Even if your child was enrolled in term 4 2011, a new on-line registration form must be completed.  This is because some venues, times, classes have changed and also your child may have moved up an age group or you may have altered contact details. Children who will be attending all year do not need to re-enrol each term (only at the start of each year).

Happy New Year!!!        

Just a quick reminder that our Dance Holiday Programme starts on Monday 9 January and runs for three weeks until Friday 27 January.
You can book for just a day or any number of days or weeks.

SPECIAL!  If you pay for 4 days in one week you get the 5th free!

Where:
14B Hocking Street Mount Maunganui (off Hewletts Road).

Details:
This is a fun based dance programme which will give children a chance to try out a wide range of dance & drama styles.  Workshops will include Acro-Dance (gymnastics based dance), Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz, Zumba, Ballet, Mime, Acting, Cheerleading, Theatre Sports, Body Conditioning (stretch, strength and lengthen).

Children will be guided in choreographing their own dances and creating their own scripts for plays.

We have a guest teacher specialising in break dancing basics.

Plenty of other fun activities also including art & crafts, cooking, singing, games, xbox 360 dance central battles, karaoke etc etc.

The programme will be split into two different age groups, 5-8 years and 9-12 years.  

Children will need to bring their own substantial lunch and drink bottle for active children as well as morning and afternoon tea.

We will have sprinklers outside for childen to play under on sunny days, so plese send them with togs, sunscreen, hat & towel.

Cost:
$40 per day or $160 for all five days in one week.  You can book for any number of days (1-5).  These costs are based on an 8am-4.30pm programme.
After care (any time between 4.30-6.00pm) is an extra $5 per day.

After a long wait the ‘Shine’ DVDs were delivered this morning.

 

Unfortunately you can’t hear the audience’s reaction - clapping, cheering etc so it’s not a great representation of how well your children performed on the day.

 

DVDs can be collected from any of Teejay’s Zumba classes this week if you attend, or from our shop at 56 Tom Muir Drive on the following days and times:

 

Sunday 18 Dec – 9am-9pm

Monday 19 Dec – 12pm-5pm

Tuesday 20 Dec – 9am-4pm

Wednesday 21 Dec 12pm-4pm

Thursday 22 Dec 1pm-5pm

Friday 22 Dec 1pm-9pm

Saturday 23 Dec 12pm-9pm

Please do not come outside of these times.

Our office will be closed from Sunday 24 Dec to Tuesday 3 January although emails will be checked periodically throughout this time.

 

In January DVDs can be collected from our Dance Holiday Programme from the 9th-27th January (excluding weekends) from 8am-4.30pm from 14B Hocking Street at the Mount.

Dear parents,

Just a reminder, as previously notified, our dance year has now ended.

 

Yesterday's show's were such a special finish to a great year.

 

Thanks to the dance teachers, numerous volunteers behind the scenes, parents and of course, the children themselves for making "Shine" such a memorable show.

If you have haven't ordered a dvd or missed the show, these can still be ordered by depositing $20 into our ANZ account 010322-0146854-00 Rhythmz Dance Co using "dvd" and your child's name as a reference.

If your child went home with any accessories by mistake from the show please get these back to us so we can use for following shows, as we do from year to year.  A good time would be when you come to collect your dvd.  We will let you know as soon as they are ready.

We also have quite a bit of lost property from the show so if it is urgent please get in touch but if not you are welcome to have a look through it when you come to collect your dvd.

 

Our 2012 timetable and on-line registration form are now up on the website.

29 SEPTEMBER 2011 

There seems to have been some confusion about how term 4 and subsequent fees are structured.

Our 8 week term finished this week and classes start again the week beginning Tuesday 25 October (the first week back at school in Term 4).

In term 4...

If your child's class is on a Monday or Friday and they are performing at Baycourt Theatre, their term 4 fees are $57 school based class, $70 public class. This is made up of:

  • 3 practices at your usual venue from Mon 31 Oct/Fri 28 Oct to Mon 14 Nov/Fri 11 Nov inclusive.
  • 2 one hour practices on Saturday 5 & 12 November at the Freedom Centre, 36D MacDonald St Mt Maunganui  with individual group practice times.
  • 1 practice at Baycourt on Friday 18 November from approximately 4-7pm.


If your child's class is on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and they are performing at Baycourt Theatre, their term 4 fees are $65 school based class, $80 public class. This is made up of:

  • 4 practices at your usual venue from Tue 25 Oct/Wed 26 Oct/Thur 27 Oct to Tue 15 Nov/Wed 16 Nov/Thur 17 Nov inclusive
  • 2 one hour practices on Saturday 5 & 12 November at the Freedom Centre, 36D MacDonald St Mt Maunganui with individual group practice times.
  • 1 practice at Baycourt on Friday 18 November from approximately 4-7pm.


If your child's class is on a Saturday 
and they are performing at Baycourt Theatre, their term 4 fees are $70. This is made up of:

  • 3 practices at Gate Pa from Sat 29 Oct to Sat 12 Nov inclusive.  Times will not clash with the Sat 5 & 12 Nov practices at the MacDonald Street venue.
  • 2 one hour practices on Saturday 5 & 12 November a the Freedom Centre, 36D MacDonald St Mt Maunganui with individual group practice times.
  • 1 practice at Baycourt on Friday 18 November from approximatley 4-7pm.

So students are getting more than the equivalent of a 7 or 8 week term in practice hours, just some of them need to be at different venues because of the scale of things.

Note also for the practices on Friday 18 November at Baycourt, all Little Luvlies will only be required for 1-1.5 hours.

If your child is not performing at Baycourt, but would like to continue into term 4, please call the office to discuss your options.  Note that, because of the emphasis on Baycourt in term 4, we are taking no NEW registrations with the exception of Selwyn Ridge Primary and Little Luvlies classes that are not already at full capacity. 


SPECIAL DRAW

All those that pay their term 4 dance fees before 14 October go into a draw for TWO chances to win 4 tickets to 'Shine' (your choice of session times).

Tickets for 'Shine' are now on sale through Baycourt or online through Ticket Direct.

15 SEPTEMBER 2011

Our term 3 finishes the week beginning Monday 26 September and our term 4 starts the week beginning Tuesday 25 October (the same day school starts back).

In term 4 dance fees will $65 for primary classes and $80 for public classes.  The term fees will include the regular weekly lessons leading up to the show, the extra Saturday practices (as previously advised), the Friday 18th November practice and the performance day at Baycourt.  There will not be any lessons after Baycourt and everyone will have a well deserved break.  As Labour Day falls at the beginning of term 4, children in Monday classes will pay a reduced term 4 fee.  Likewise, children with lessons on a Friday or Saturday will miss a lesson due to the Baycourt practices and show.  So children with lessons on Monday, Friday and Saturday will be required to pay $57 for a school class and $70 for a public class.

To summarise, if your child's scheduled dance class is on a:

Monday - $57 school based class, $70 public class for trm 4

Tuesday - $65 school based class, $80 public class for trm 4

Wednesday -$65 school based class, $80 public class for trm 4

Thursday - $65 school based class, $80 public class for term 4

Friday - $57 school based class, $70 public class for term 4

Saturday - $70

Children who are not performing at Baycourt pay $32.50 for school based classes and $40 for public classes, or ring for a price if you are a Monday, Friday or Saturday participant.

TUESDAY 6 SEPTEMBER

OPEN WEEK
NEXT week, the week of Mon 12 September is open week for all dance classes.  This means parents are welcome to come and observe any class your child attends.  You are welcome to video the dance the children are practising for Baycourt so they can use it to practise at home.
Please be mindful of noise and distraction and no siblings please.

HOLIDAY PROGRAMME – ENROL NOW
Just a reminder that we will again be running our fabulous dance holiday programme these coming holidays from Monday 10 October to Friday 21 October.  The venue will be 14B Hocking Street, Mount Maunganui.  You may be entitled to an OSCAR subsidy from WINZ but there is a process you need to go through and now is a good time to get it sorted as the holidays will sneak up on us quickly.  Please call WINZ ON 0800559009 or www.workingforfamilies.govt.nz to check your eligibility for the OSCAR subsidy.  Please note Work and Income do not pay retrospectively so you need to approach them prior to your child attending our programme.  If you enrolled your child on-line for the July Holiday programme, you do not need to re-enrol for October unless any of your details have changed. You do, however need to email us with the dates and any after-care required.  For those enrolling for the first time for a holiday programme, please enrol by choosing ENROL ONLINE from our website, clicking on Holiday Programme and following the process through.

 

TERM FOUR
Classes will start in the FIRST week of the term, the week beginning Tuesday 25 October (Monday is Labour Day).  If you have already enrolled for term 3 your term 4 enrolment will be automatic and all you need to do is pay the $65 (for school-based classes) or $80 (for public classes) term fee and the Baycourt costume fee if not already paid. ($30 if you child is in one dance, $50 if they are in two). Please advise us if your child will not be returning in term 4 so that we can take them off the roll.

CHANGE OF MOUNT VENUE

We have found a fabulous new venue and dance classes will start there this coming Monday 8 August.  The address is 14B Hocking St, Mount Maunganui.  Hocking St is off Hewletts Road.  Please leave a bit earlier the first time you come here as it can be a little tricky to find as there is a concrete median in the middle of Hewletts Road.  Please click on this google map for directions:

We are today and also on Monday contacting everyone from the Mount classes by phone to let you know of the change and give directions.  We apologise for any inconvenience but hope you’ll agree the new venue is fabulous and much cosier and warmer.  Check out our map too as you may have to do a (legal) U-turn if coming from the Bayfair end of Hewletts Road:

 

PAPAMOA PRIMARY DANCE CLASSES:

Will from this term be split into 2 classes to accommodate the growth.  5-7 year olds at 2.45pm and then 8-12 year olds at 3.30pm.  The older group are welcome to wait quietly for their class.  We will encourage them to do their homework.  All parents of these dancers will get a phone call either today (Friday) or Monday to confirm the above.

Please note this will mean they will be in two dances at Baycourt so will have to be available for two practises on Sat 5th and 12th of November (that most probably won’t be immediately after one another).  It will also mean there will be a $50 costume fee (for two costumes) rather than the $30 fee for just one costume.  Remember all costumes will be kept by students after the show (minus our accessories and props).

If your child is in three dances at Baycourt the costume fee will be $70.

If you have already paid for a second class in term 3 for your child we will give you a credit for your Term 4 dance fees.  Please email or call us if this applies to you.

MONDAY 27 JUNE 2011

Our term 2 dance classes finish on Monday 4 July and term 3 classes start in the week beginning Monday 8 August.  As soon as we have our term 3 timetable finalised we will get it up on the website.  At that point, new registrants will be able to enrol on-line.  Those continuing on from term 2 need not re-enrol but please note the cut-off date of 1 August 2011 for payment to ensure your child's place and avoid a 10% penalty fee.  Please let us know if your child attended in term 2 but will not be returning in term 3 and we will remove them from the roll.

Fees are once again $80 for the term for our public classes and $65 for our school based classes.  Payment can be made by:

Thank you to all who have paid for their term 2 dance classes             

To those who did not have their term fees to us by the deadline of 4 May, please note, that after allowing a few days grace for payments to reach us we are now imposing the 10% penalty fee.

This means that if still haven't paid your term 2 fees and it is a school-based class you now need to pay $71.50.  If you or your child are enrolled for a public class you will now need to pay $88.  Please pay as soon as possible to ensure your child a place.

If you or your child are not returning in term 2, please let us know so that we can take you/them off the roll.

Important information for those who may have missed previous notices              

We have previously sent out newsletters asking that you check our website for any changes, deletions or additions to our timetable for term 2.  However, it appears some people have missed this so below is a summary of those changes.  However it is still best to check the website prior to a new term.  Please note that all classes start in the week beginning 9 May 2011.

School classes

  • Te Puna Primary School classes have changed to a Monday at 8.15am
  • Mount Primary classes are being held back at the school hall
  • Matua Primary changes to Monday 8.15am for all ages
  • Bethlehem Primary classes have changed to a Friday at 8.15am
  • There are No classes at Selwyn Ridge or Welcome Bay School this term

New Primary School classes:

  • Tahatai Coast Tuesday 7.55am-8.35am 5-7 year olds
  • Papamoa Primary Thursdays 2.45pm-3.30pm 5 & 6 year olds

Term 2 DANCE Classes

Thanks to all students who participated in Rhythmz Dance Co  classes in term One. 
The timetables for our new term starting in the week beginning 9 May 2011 (the 2nd week of the school term) are now on our website. We have tried to keep changes to a minimum, but sometimes this is unavoidable, so please check the timetable. If you enrolled your child on-line last term and your child will be attending the same class in term 2 and none of your contact details have changed, you will not need to re-enrol - we will roll over your registration for you.

All you will need to remember is to make payment by Wednesday 4 May (details below) to avoid the 10% late fee.

If your child is changing to a different class, enrolling for the first time or your contact details have changed you will need to complete an on-line enrolment accessible from our home page.

If you are NOT re-enrolling your child please let us know so we can make that place available for another student.

We are running a dance holiday programme these coming holidays Tues 26th April – Fri 29th April (Monday is a public holiday).  It will be a fun based dance programme which will give kids a chance to try out loads of different dance styles.  Workshops will include Stomp, Acro-Dance (gymnastics based dance), Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz, Zumba, Ballet, mime/acting, theatre sports and body conditioning (stretch, strength and lengthen).

Plenty of other fun activities also including an easter egg hunt, art & crafts, creative cooking, games, xbox 360 dance central battles etc etc etc!

We will run the programme with two different age groups, 5-7 years and 8-12 years.   Children will need to bring their own lunch.  We provide morning and afternoon tea.

A show will be put on for parents on the last day.

The cost for the programme will be $40 per day or $140 for all four days.  You can book for any number of days (1-4).  These costs are based on 9am-4.30pm.  Before care (7.30-9am) is an extra $5 and after care 4.30-6.00pm is an extra $5.

PARENTS WELCOME TO ALL DANCE CLASSES NEXT WEEK

The whole of next week (from Mon 21 March) is open week for all dance classes.  This means parents are welcome to come and observe any class your child attends.  Please be mindful of noise and distraction and no siblings please.

MAUNGATAPU PRIMARY NOTICE

Maungatapu Primary only – Please note there will be NO class on Wed 23 March as there is a parent conference day at school and no children.   This class will be made up at the end of the term so the last lesson for Wednesday Maungatapu class will be on Wednesday 13th April.

DANCE FEES NOW DUE

On Wednesday 2 March we will be adding a 10% penalty fee to all outstanding fees.  This does not include Papamoa Primary whose classes are due to start next week and Tahatai Coast School who will be starting the week after next. Enrolments for Papamoa Primary can now be made on-line and Tahatai will be on the website as soon as we have confirmed times etc.

 

UNIDENTIFIED PAYMENT

We have had an unidentified payment from around February 2nd for $80.  There was no name, no student name or class info.  If you think this may be you please let us know – we will require proof it was your payment.

 

ARRIVE ON TIME

Please do you best get your children to classes on time – late arrivals are distracting. Parents and siblings are asked not to observe the dance classes (excluding the Little Luvlies classes which are fine to observe). It can be distracting for both the children and teacher.  It can also spoil the surprise of the dance performance student's will be working towards.
We understand there may be certain circumstances in which you will need to stay with your child.  If there is a reason you would like to stay, please discuss this with us prior to the term starting so we can make an arrangement with the dance teacher. 
Parents will be invited to watch a lesson near the middle of the term. 
At many of the venues there is an adjoining room that you can wait in if you don’t want to leave the premises. Please ask the whereabouts of this area should you wish to use it.

BOOKINGS FOR TERM ONE
Just a reminder that our dance classes start the week beginning Monday 14th February and pre-bookings are essential so we can determine whether we have the numbers to go ahead with each of the classes.  We have many more classes on offer this term (37) so please have a good look at the timetables and forward this to anyone you think may be interested.
Bookings are ESSENTIAL, previous enrolments don't roll over from term to term.

NEW ONLINE ENROLMENT
We have a new easy to use online enrolment system that each child must be enrolled through (even if you have filled in an enrolment form in the past).

Click on the 'online enrolment' button underneath TIMETABLES on the left of this page.
Consider enrolling in more than one class. There is a 10% discount off the 2nd and subsequent classes booked (per person).

PAYMENT
As usual prepayment is essential and if your chosen class doesn't go ahead you will receive a full refund (if there is not another suitable class).
Fees for public classes in 2011 are $80 and for school classes $65.  These fees are set for the year.  If booking for the full four terms the fee is discounted to just $300 for Public classes and $240 for Primary classes.
Please note that there is a 10% late fee if payment is not received in the office by Wednesday 9 February 2011.

Payment can be made through the enrolment system using a Credit Card.  Internet banking is also accepted as are cheques.  Sorry NO cash can be accepted from the teachers at the classes but can be taken at our office.

CHANGE OF VENUE
We have a new venue at the Mount - 36d MacDonald St, opposite the new 'Good Food Trading Company' and 'Mount Topkids'.  Very spacious with loads of parking. 
This venue will be used for the MOUNT PRIMARY classes in Term One due to some renovations at the school.
Also as this venue is so close to Bayfair it will replace the St Mary's church for the old Bayfair class.

SHOW OFF DVD's
There are still a large number of DVD's to be collected and paid for.  Our address is 56 Tom Muir Dr, Gate Pa, Tauranga.  Our office hours are 9.30am-4.30pm.

BAYCOURT 2011 DATES
If you are interested in your child being involved in our production this year (optional involvement) please note these dates in your diary.  Friday 18th and Saturday 19th Nov.  There will be a practise at Baycourt at 4pm on Friday 18th with the shows being on Saturday 19th.  There will also be practise dates on Saturday 5 and 12 of November with the venue to be confirmed.  This year we will stagger the times for each group at the practises on the 5th and 12th of November so there is less waiting but the practise at Baycourt on Friday the 18th will be a full run through.
